  I've just had a thought - could this be why so many young people seemed to need to go to the toilets so often at assemblies?
  
  Anyway, is there anywhere online I could go to see when the various location's district assemblies are for the UK?

  i really like this girl i work with.

  she's a few years older than me, but we get along great.

  She shouldn't get disfellowshipped for marrying a non-believer, but it's STRONGLY counselled against and she would be looked down upon. Displays of emotion between couples should only be carried out in public so as to avoid the possibility of things getting out of (or indeed, into) hand.
  
  Either get her out of the cult first to give your relationship a chance at a stable basis, or leave her be.
  
  Please know that as a Christian, in JW land you are part of Revelation's Babylon the Great (which is all religion apart from theirs) which will be destroyed at Armageddon. If she marries you, she will lose you when her loving God does his stuff because you didn't listen to the warning message. This is how clearly she is thinking.

  Is Satan actually the good guy, and Jehovah the evil usurper?

  a few years ago i read genesis again, and with a more objective mind, got the sense that satan was actually telling the truth, and that god was just trying to have humans be his slaves.

  and god's reign over humans hasn't been all that pretty, in fact, its been downright awful.. 'course, i'm atheist now, so i wouldn't believe it even that way around - not literally anyway.

  but i wondered if the writer/editors of genesis may have actually had this thought.. anyone know of any sources that explore this idea in depth?.

  I've kind of got the feeling Satan was onto something before, but not consciously realised to the extent you did. So those devil worshippers might be right after all.

  I suggest you ask why she's telling you that Witnesses do go out with non-Witnesses when in actual fact they're not allowed to.

  My advice: only proceed if they see the fallacies and realise their religion is a fraud, as it will pose SERIOUS implications on any relationship they have. Ironically, you might be the best chances these girls have of getting out.

  Will the logic and science of this world apply on Paradise Earth?

  i feel a little stupid asking this question as i don't for one millisecond believe there is any possibility of a future paradise on earth, but i'm trying to work out how the people who do believe it visualise it and expect it to be.

  i suppose it's pointless to expect believers to have rational answers about such an irrational concept, but i'm trying to understand their thinking.

  (being a complete newcomer to all things jw, i am learning a lot of fascinating stuff from this website.

  Hi there, and well done for helping your friend before it is too late!
  
  I was a believing JW until a little over a year ago, and the short version of my previous thoughts on the topic are as follows:
  
  As Jehovah and Jesus designed and made everything, they would know how to modfiy everything as required, or to bring back everything to perfection. Even if humans were still to have sex drive after the earth had been filled, Jehovah could remove the procreative functionality of love-making. Or maybe we could even be given another planet to inhabit.
  
  The new system was actually a very vague concept, and Witnesses have their own thoughts on how it might be. Some think technology will be used; others don't. It was generally agreed that everyone would be growing their own food and building their own houses, so technology could be used to a more limited/"healthy" degree than this wicked old system.
  
  Nowhere does it say that animals would live forever, so that wasn't generally believed as far as I know. The thought that predators would cease being predators was quite a mental leap for me (could Satan have twisted creation to be violent?), but...
  
  ...if someone needs/wants to believe something, logic does not necessarily need to get in the way.

  what do you want them to carve on your tombstone?

  i'm inclined toward the smartass epitaph, something like "what are you looking at?
